Morehouse College, Atlanta GA (2004-2008)
Derrick earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Performance (Cellist) where he graduated with cum
laude honors.
While at Morehouse College, Derrick served as President of Phi Mu Alpha and President of the
Morehouse Orchestra. He was also inducted into the Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Society.
He returned to Little Rock to "give back" to his community before pursuing post-baccalaureate
education. He is in his second year with City Year, Inc. LR/NLR, an AmeriCorps organization as a Senior Corp
Member. At the end of this service year, June 2010, he will have volunteered over 3400 hours serving as a mentor,
tutor, after school coordinator, and community change agent.
Derrick was accepted into the Clinton School of Public Service to pursue a Masters Degree in Public
Service. He will travel to Africa this June as part of the studies for his master's program.
Derrick serves as Youth Minister and Minister of Music at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church and
has also implemented a summer youth mission and enrichment program for students third through eighth grade.
